Coil Technique Class at Atelier Retiro (available in PT and ENG)

Fridays, September 12th, 19th, and 26th from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM

Spend your Fridays creating a one-of-a-kind piece!

In the Coil Technique Class, we'll turn your idea into a 30cm vessel, made using the traditional coil method. Choose a form that inspires you, and master ceramicist Joy Hanford will guide you step by step through the making of your piece.

Pick from Pre-Columbian, Greek, African, Roman styles — or invent your own!

You’ll be able to choose from a variety of clays and, together, we’ll learn how to roll, join, and build tall!

Glazing and decoration are available after the class, for an additional cost.
(Consultations at the end of the course. Prices vary depending on expectations and ambition.)

The price includes the 23% VAT applicable in Portugal.

This service is non-refundable, and cancellations are only allowed up to 24 hours before the activity. In case of cancellation, a voucher equal to the activity’s value will be issued, valid for 3 months.

  • The class fee includes clay, instruction, and studio time.

    Additional clay and extra studio hours can be purchased separately.

  • Handmade ceramics take time! Your creations will need to dry and be kiln-fired.

    Vessels will be ready 3 weeks after the classes (drying and firing time).

  • Glazing and decoration are available after the class, for an additional cost.
